This concise text provides an up-to-date compilation of the genetic basis for a number of important dermatologic diseases. The organization is similar to that of other texts of genodermatoses and general dermatology texts. Sections in the book cover disorders of cornification, bullous diseases, pigmentary abnormalities, diseases of epidermal appendages, and dermal disorders. A few miscellaneous diseases are also included. The material is presented in an easily read outline form. Clinical features, epidemiology, inheritance pattern, gene and chromosomal abnormalities, and mechanisms for molecular diagnosis are succinctly presented. A definite strength of the text is that the deleterious effect of the mutation is discussed, thereby giving the reader insight into the pathogenesis of the clinical disease.
