Question: In immunocompetent patients with external genital warts, what are the benefits and the harms of imiquimod therapy?

Data Sources: Studies were identified through a search of MEDLINE (1966-2000), the Cochrane Library (issue 3, 2000), and PubMed (December 15, 2000). Reference lists of review articles were searched for additional trials, and the manufacturers of 5% imiquimod cream were asked about clinical trials. Authors of articles were not contacted for unpublished reports or for additional information from published reports. No restrictions to language were made.
