Question: Do young adults who develop hypertriglyceridemia after isotretinoin therapy for acne have an inherited predisposition to develop familial combined hyperlipidemia (FCHL) and the metabolic syndrome?

Objective: To explore the hypothesis that the hyperlipidemic response to isotretinoin is genetically determined and that isotretinoin unmasks the genetic predisposition of some individuals to develop FCHL or a component of the metabolic syndrome.
