Abstract

FUNGOUS DISEASES OF THE SKIN

Attention is called to the following definitions of the fungous infections which govern the usage of the Archives. For uniformity, contributors are asked to follow them.

Dermatomycosis is a generic term including all infections due to fungi, superficial and deep.

Dermatophytosis is synonomous with dermatomycosis, but usage tends to associate dermatophytosis with ringworm of the hands and feet or with superficial fungous infections of the skin.

Epidermophytosis indicates infection due to Epidermophyton. Trichophytosis indicates infection due to Trichophyton.
