The volume on precanceroses and primary cancers of the skin by Prof. Dr. N. Melczer is published by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. It is interesting to note that this volume is priced at $10.00. A similar volume privately published would sell for a great deal more. The printing, paper, binding, and illustrations are all excellent. The subject of skin cancer is fully covered. The first portion is concerned with precanceroses, and the discussion centers around the use of the term and the division concerning the obligate and the facultative precanceroses. Some of the newer work on the chemistry of the epidermis is included in this section and is instructive. Under the title of obligate precanceroses the subject of xeroderma pigmentosum is covered. Among the facultative precanceroses, what interested me most was the portion on leukoplakia.
