Abstract

Techniques which are helpful for the biopsy of acantholytic bullous lesions are described. Manual extension of the bullae of pemphigus into the surrounding skin before biopsy produces diagnostic changes of known duration. Utilization of an aerosol refrigerant before punch biopsy simplifies the procedure and results in undistorted tissue for histopathologic study.
