The object of the editor to prepare a "detailed and authoritative source of information concerning dermatologic management" is a most commendable and extremely ambitious undertaking. In this endeavor he utilized the expertise of 180 consultants with "interest or proficiency" in management of particular dermatologic conditions. Each wrote a brief therapeutic resume reminiscent of Conn's "Current Therapy," which incidently is revised yearly. One cannot help recognizing and being impressed by these contributors.
The book is divided into three main sections: Dermatologic Procedures, Therapeutic Management, and Drug Index. The first covers special dermatologic techniques, eg, electrolysis, dermabrasion and superficial chemosurgery, hair transplantation, Mohs' technique, etc. Much of this material, however, is presented in greater depth in skin surgery texts. The second section contains many clinical pearls as well as specific therapeutic recommendations. A useful list of references is included at the end of each contributor's discussion.
