This is a novel approach to a textbook. It is compact, handy, well written, well-referenced, and concise. It is comfortable reading and provides many practical points from the author's years of clinical experience. Fifty dermatological diseases are presented as though you were making rounds with the author. A case is presented, and the differential diagnosis, prevailing thoughts on pathophysiology, and treatment are discussed. Full-page black and white photographs are used to illustrate each disease. Generally, they are good. Excellent references are listed with one-sentence statements summarizing each article. This greatly enhances the value of the book. The author obviously did not intend for this to be a complete reference tool for dermatologists as it only covers 50 dermatological diseases. However, it is excellent reading for medical students, physicians in all fields, and dermatologists; as it is a brief, concise overview of 50 skin diseases with superb references.
