Abstract

Trichostasis spinulosa consists of fascicles of retained hairs in hyperkeratotic sebaceous follicles resulting in dark plugs predominantly on the nose. The condition is very common particularly among the aged, and is ordinarily not recognized by dermatologists.

Daily topical application of a 0.05% solution of tretinoin will expell the hair plugs and eradicate the manifestations of the disorder.
