Abstract

To the Editor.—  I would like to submit a scanning electron photomicrograph of a human scabies mite. The organism was isolated from a typical burrow on the patient's hand. With the assistance of Dr George Wharton and Roy Furumizo of the Acarology Department, Ohio State University Hospitals, the specimen was prepared for viewing with the scanning electron microscope, and photographs were taken.Recently, similar photomicrographs have been published in the European literature.1Ventral surface of female Sarcoptes scabiei mite (original magnification × 261).
