Every year members of the New York Academy of Sciences are rewarded by being allowed to select gratis a number of volumes of the Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences. These volumes always include a wide range of interesting topics presented in the form of conferences or as monographs, and every member thus comes away satisfied with his or her selections. Unfortunately most of these volumes are never consulted again except for very special reasons. Since the center of medical interest has shifted westward from the New York environs, many young physicians are completely unaware of the Annals, and the data contained in these volumes often slips into the backwater of medical information.
As there are so many publications of the Annals, these are seldom if ever reviewed in the Archives, but it seemed appropriate to consider volume 278, Seventh International Conference on Sarcoidosis and Other Granulomatous Disorders
