Abstract

To the Editor.—  Atopic dermatitis continues to present a challenge to the dermatologist, in spite of much research on the theoretical aspects of the immunological process. We would like to call attention again to an important contribution by Dr Jud R. Scholtz in two papers on the management of atopic dermatitis that were published in 1964 and 1965.1,2 We have designated Scholtz's technique as the "Scholtz regimen," and we have used this method during the ensuing 14 years for the successful control of this recalcitrant disease. We feel that the dramatic response of atopic dermatitis to the Scholtz regimen is comparable to the advancement in the therapy of infections by the introduction of antibiotics, and of inflammatory diseases by corticosteroids; the Scholtz regimen has not received the attention that it merits. Our introduction to this new technic for the management of atopic dermatitis occurred at the October 1963 meeting
