Abstract

To the Editor.—  Hammond and Winkelmann recently reported three cases in the August Archives (115:990-992, 1979) of cutaneous phycomycosis, with recovery and identification of Rhizopus sp, in postoperative immunocompetent orthopedic patients who had been exposed to contaminated surgical adhesive (Elastoplast).The authors stated that "a review of the pertinent literature revealed no other similar series of reported cases."
