Abstract

Professor Schnyder, chief of the Dermatology Clinic of the University Hospital, Zurich, Switzerland, has edited the second edition. Nineteen qualified European dermatologists and pathologists and one American immunologist collaborated in the successful compilation of this work in two volumes.

Schnyder initiates the volumes with a short, concise article on standard works and important books on histopathologic characteristics of the skin that have been published in Austria, England, France, Germany, Hungary, and the United States since the time when Paul Gerson Unna, the founder of this important branch of dermatology, wrote his fundamental work in 1894. A kaleidoscopic view of the enormous activity of investigators in the field of cutaneous histopathology is presented.
