The Third International Symposium on Psoriasis was held at Stanford (Calif) University, July 13 through 17, 1981. During the five-day meeting, both basic research and clinical aspects of psoriasis were covered in 27 plenary articles, representing areas of basic science that are pertinent to psoriasis research, as well as fundamental studies related to the principal therapeutic modalities that seem promising. In addition, a total of 133 shorter contributions corresponded to presentations in six workshops and 75 poster exhibits. These short communications encompassed various basic aspects of psoriasis research and offered much information relating to the management of patients with psoriasis.
The symposium format was organized to present indepth plenary articles in the mornings, with workshops on similar subjects in the afternoons. Poster exhibits were displayed throughout the conference. We have selected representative plenary, workshop, and poster presentations from the program with a related theme and have attempted in our selection to reflect the worldwide participation found in the symposium.
