Abstract

Dr Zacarian made a major contribution in the fields of cryosurgery and dermatology with the publication of his first volume on cryosurgery. This new book continues to uphold the excellent quality of his work as well as his leadership in this field. It gives up-to-date information; is lavishly illustrated, including statistical tables and color plates; and is extensively referenced.

Cryosurgery has become an important treatment modality spurred by the efforts of Dr Zacarian and the contributors to this text, most of whom have been teaching cryosurgery for many years. The experience and good clinical judgment that they possess are evident in the chapters. The book contains chapters on cryonecrosis, instrumentation, indications, current techniques of treatment, and complications. There are excellent chapters on the techniques of treating malignant lesions of the skin and eyelids and advanced tumors; these chapters contain the latest knowledge about monitoring of treatment.
