This book is designed to illustrate the clinical manifestations of the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and AIDS-related complex. It is divided into three main sections. The first part presents the epidemiology, immunology, and detection of the HTLV-III retrovirus, briefly, in a tabular and graphic format. The second section presents excellent color photographs of the clinical manifestations of AIDS with particularly good treatment of Kaposi's sarcoma, including lesions of the feet and palate. The third part illustrates AIDS-related complex with good photographs of oral cavity involvement, especially oral hairy leukoplakia. In addition, this section contains a separate chapter devoted to associated skin diseases, including seborrheic dermatitis, folliculitis, xeroderma, herpes zoster, molluscum contagiosum, perianal herpes simplex virus, and cutaneous dermatophyte infections.
