The second edition of the Primer of Dermatopathology is a new, improved version of the first edition. The second edition is formatted similar to the first edition, which emphasizes the pattern recognition of inflammatory and neoplastic diseases affecting the skin. The authors' goal as indicated in the preface of the text is to offer a book with ''practical usefulness'' that is organized ''into a scheme that permits the successful interpretation of a histologie tissue section.'' It is my opinion that this textbook attains these goals and more.
In each disease or disorder discussed in the textbook, a list of histopathologic criteria for diagnosis is given with the main or critical criteria highlighted in bold print. This feature is useful to the student or resident learning dermatopathology to emphasize the important features for diagnosis. There is also a comment section that contains useful information with differential diagnoses of various histologie findings highlighted in a box for easy reference. A new feature to the second
