Microscopic examination shows a population of plump, spindled cells in the dermis. The cells are arranged in loose fascicles within a myxoid stroma. Other areas of the specimen show thickened collagen bundles (Figure 2 and Figure 3). Mast cells are prominent throughout the specimen. The neoplastic cells are CD34+ positive and negative for S-100 protein.
