For nigh on 2 decades, this journal has offered me the opportunity in the “Archives a Century Ago” to exercise my left brain: analyzing, comparing, and recounting the history of dermatology within the context of medicine and the wider world. I am now doubly honored to be allowed to use my right brain to address the same issues in a more visual, idiosyncratic fashion. Knowing too many artists, I hesitate to glorify these irregular contributions as Art, but they do come from another part of my soul, and I hope they find some resonance in you, the Readers. This inaugural feature of “The Other Half ” I call The Creature of Habits (Figure).
