The latest version of the Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital's Symposium on Aesthetic Surgery was held in New York, NY, on November 9-13, 1998. This symposium primarily featured didactic presentations from surgeons affiliated with the Manhattan Eye and Ear Institute, as well as guest lecturers from around the world. Many facial plastic surgeons attended.
Many considered the day of "live surgery" to be the highlight of the meeting. A large screen at the front of the room was used to display 3 simultaneous surgeries transmitted via satellite broadcasting. Participants benefited from a large-screen view, using superb audiovisual techniques, of 20 separate surgical cases, including basal cell cancer reconstruction, blepharoplasty, face-lifting, endoscopic browlifting, body liposuction, breast augmentation, breast reduction, and rhinoplasty.
