I have read with great interest the article by Chakravarty and coworkers1 on disability and mortality among aging runners. Long-term vigorous exercise has been proposed as a risk factor for atrial fibrillation in aging professional and amateur athletes.2- 4 I wonder if the authors could find an increased incidence of atrial fibrillation (or flutter) in the medical histories of their study subjects?
