We appreciate the positive comments of Drs McCarron, Okasha, McEwen, and Davey Smith regarding our publication. We are pleased that our report has stimulated their efforts to further analyze the Glasgow University data using cutpoints based on the JNC-VI,1 with findings similar to ours. Blood pressure measured in young adulthood predicts long-term risk for coronary, cardiovascular, and all-cause mortality.
