To the Editor We have regretfully discovered an error in our program underlying the analyses of the paper “Association of β-Blocker Therapy With Risks of Adverse Cardiovascular Events and Deaths in Patients With Ischemic Heart Disease Undergoing Noncardiac Surgery: A Danish Nationwide Cohort Study” (2014;174:336-344).1
The error, which was discovered internally when we used the program as template for other projects, concerned one of the composite endpoints in major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE), where the nonfatal ischemic stroke was coded as ICD-10 code I61 instead of I63 and I64. We have rerun all analyses and corrected the data associated with these codes. The results are substantially unaltered. Importantly, none of the conclusions were changed by this programming error.
