To the Editor The article by Avis et al1 titled “Duration of Menopausal Vasomotor Symptoms Over the Menopause Transition,” from the Study of Women Across the Nation (SWAN) gives further insight into the complexities of estrogen action. Vasomotor symptoms signal to the woman and those around her that her body is not functioning as it has in earlier reproductive years.
