To the Editor The observations by Orlich et al1 on vegetarianism and lower rates of colorectal cancer are consistent with meta-analyses on meat and colorectal cancer.2 Orlich et al offer a mechanism through adiposity and hyperinsulinemia. The Scottish Health and Ethnicity Linkage Study findings may aid interpretation.3
