To the Editor In her first-person account of performing a test for Chagas disease that was not indicated,1 O’Brien perfectly illustrates the blind faith we have in tests and, likewise, the ease at which we often ignore clinical reasoning when interpreting and acting upon test results. Fortunately, the Bayes theorem can assist us in the interpretation of unexpected test results.
