For several years Victor McKusick has published annually a scholarly summary of medical genetics in the Journal of Chronic Diseases. Now he has put 3 of them together in book form. Not only has the author achieved distinction in other fields of medical investigation such as spectrophonocardiography, but his inquisitive mind and his critical nature together with the splendid opportunities of collecting large masses of material have enabled him to add appreciably to our understanding of connective tissue diseases. Here he has summarized recent contributions to the field of medical genetics. Medical genetics is growing so fast that its current state cannot be put into a textbook fast enough, for by the time it was written and printed it would be out of date. A scholarly, critically annotated bibliography with much new information has to serve instead of the usual texts. Medical Genetics 1958-1960 is an admirable source book and
