This new Year Book covers in synopsis form articles from about 100 journals for the year 1961-1962. A number of foreign publications and state medical journals, some not commonly read by cardiologists, are included. Interestingly, one domestic journal limited to the specialty has been notably omitted.
As in the other Year Books, excellent quality reproductions of original figures have been utilized with no loss in detail. The synopses of articles are significantly longer than the abstracts one encounters in most journals and hence allow a much more satisfactory development and presentation of data. Initialed editorial comments, some contradictory, are freely used by the eight editors in their respective areas of special competence. In some instances, added perspective is given by the editors by referral to related works by the same or other authors.
