This new edition by Stefanini and Dameshek is an important contribution and will surely be a standard reference in the specialty of blood coagulation. It is not intended as an introductory text, and many beginners will find it difficult to read. Occasionally, confusing terms are used, such as "true vascular pseudohemophilia," which do little to clarify the subject matter and tend to put one's head into a spin. Nevertheless, these are minor quibbles when compared to the large amount of factual information which can be obtained from this book.
As one might anticipate, from knowledge of the past research and clinical reports of the authors, the chapter about thrombocytopenic states is particularly outstanding. All aspects of coagulation and hemostasis are described accurately and in considerable detail. An 80-page section on technique and procedures for the study of hemorrhagic disorders deserves special mention and commendation. An addendum has been placed at
