In 1958 the first edition of Drugs of Choice appeared and rapidly gained wide acceptance. The current edition is already the fourth, and a new revision every two years is deemed necessary to keep pace with the flood of new preparations released by the drug industry and the changing fashions of therapy. The editor has made a wise decision in selecting different authors and subject mat- ter in successive editions with the result that a fresh edition does not necessarily render its predecessors obsolete. In keeping with the earlier traditions, an impressive list of authors have contributed to this volume, and the text now runs to 836 pages. The 41 chapters cover an extensive area of medical practice and include such relatively neglected subjects as drugs for nutritional disorders and local antiseptics. Each chapter is followed by a list of selected references, and the index is refreshingly comprehensive. Minor typographical
