This interesting volume, edited by Drs. Shaldon and Cook, represents the proceedings of a conference held at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, London, in September 1963. The foreword was written by Dr. Sheila Sherlock, Professor of Medicine at the Hospital.

Many of the research centers actively working in the field of acute renal failure are represented: for example, Washington, DC, Newcastle; Seattle; Birmingham; England; Leeds; and London. The book has three parts: I. Renal Circulation in Acute Renal Failure, II. Biochemical Disturbances in Acute Renal Failure, and III. Management of Acute Renal Failure. There are two appendices: the first deals with the relationship of infections and acute renal failure and the second with the relationship of acute renal failure and hepatic disease.

The first two parts of this volume give very good basic data as well as clinical explanations for the alterations in acute renal failure. The third
