The objective of this volume is to review and coordinate progress in psychiatric therapy. By the use of brief papers the editor attempts to integrate the current therapies. It takes umbrage to presume that you can unify such discordant themes as "Transcultural Psychiatry" and "Rehabilitation" in 306 pages.

With the exception of the papers by Rome, Ross, and Masserman, the contributions lack a coherent theme. Most are entirely too brief. A chapter entitled "Psychodynamics and Treatment in College Students" is covered in four pages. This type of synopsis cannot even be called an introduction. At times the material is so condensed that the material is reduced to a caricature of its model.

The most generous comment one can make of this volume is to describe it as an outline of current psychiatric therapies. There is a cumulative index covering the previous four volumes. There is a brief reference list which
