Arthritis and Allied Conditions is not only a book; it is a tradition. That seven editions have appeared since its first publication by Bernard I. Comroe, MD, in 1940 attests not only to its popularity and wide appeal but also to the conscientious effort of its editor to keep abreast of the ever-expanding field of rheumatology. Fifty-five of the outstanding rheumatologists in this country assist him in this task. The publication is in the same instance a text book for the medical student, a quick review for the busy house officer or practitioner, a detailed reference for the library, and a bible for even the most sophisticated rheumatologist.
