This is a two-volume work, beautifully printed on heavy coated paper and outstandingly well illustrated. In breadth and depth of coverage it stands alone in the current English literature of pathology. A consideration of the organization and contents may assist the physician to decide whether it is worth the considerable expense (about three times what other books on the same subject cost).

Systemic Pathology is a multiauthored work; about half was written by the editors and Friedmann and Morson. The writing has the smooth power characteristic of educated Englishmen. The portions dealing with the heart and blood vessels, blood and bone marrow, lymph nodes, nose and nasopharynx, respiratory system, gastrointestinal tract, liver and pancreas, kidneys and urogenital organs, female genitalia, breasts, adrenal glands, thyroid, parathyroid glands, nervous system, muscles, skin, eyes, and ears each represent short monographs. Some coauthors including Doniach, Heptinstall, and Morson are well known in this country,
