Any book which purports to bring pathologists and clinicians closer together in appreciation of skin diseases must not be ignored. If the author's aim in the revised and updated second edition falls short of its noble mark, at least it falls closer to the target than any other similar treatise. Diseases are arranged on the basis of common morphologic rather than pathologic denominators. Each lesion has a full description of the pathology with sufficient clinical and etiological data to permit comprehension of the whole disease entity. Therapy is restricted to brief discussions in the neoplastic disease sections; these comprise about one fourth of the book.

A larger portion consists of a clinicopathologic survey of almost all known abnormalities of the skin. The text contains over 500 full-page black-and-white illustrations which include clinical lesions and pathological sections. Electron microscopy is used effectively to review ultrastructural changes.
