This is an attractive book from several points of view. The cover itself portrays the contents. There are photographs of chromosomes and active playing children. The pages which are 9 × 6 inches and number 648 portray this spectrum. The book is divided into eight sections: (I) "The Scope of Pediatrics"; (II) "Beginnings"; (III) "Increment in Pounds and Inches"; (IV) "Development of Organic Structure"; (V) "Life Patterns of Sleep and Nutrition"; (VI) "Development of Behavior"; (VII) "Horizontal Pictures"; and (VIII) "Sociological Considerations."
The author fortunately has had the aid of friends and colleagues who have read the entire manuscript and others who have read separate sections. Undoubtedly, it reflects comments by individuals of varied interests and capacity. The book is replete with a number of tables, photographs which portray the points made in the text, adequate original figures, and copies of outstanding material from other sources.
