This is a splendid compilation of pertinent, contemporary information on strokes with detailed discussions of clinical evaluation, rehabilitation potential, aphasia, emotional and intellectual considerations and vocational placement techniques. Twenty-seven contributors present the views of various medical disciplines and the allied sciences concerned with research and rehabilitation of stroke victims. Future research areas are discussed: these include (1) how to identify the stroke-susceptible individual, (2) functional evaluation, and (3) prognostic guidelines. References are well-selected and current (including 1966). Discussions at the end of each chapter are lively. There is no index.
