Abstract

This book represents an extensive revision of a justly popular work in the field of gynecology. Menstrual disorders and sterility are the principal areas of concern to the patient and often represent the basis for her selection of a doctor. It behooves the practicing physician (gynecologist or not) to know how to start from these important presenting complaints; he will find this book conveniently arranged for this purpose. If one wishes to go further, the reader will be wafted along by an eminently readable text. This is particularly true of the chapters written by Doctor Israel which have a refreshingly direct, person-to-person quality. Perennial problems such as dysmenorrhea, intermenstrual pain, premenstrual tension, migraine, and mastodynia are dealt with at some length. However, there is so much speculation and so little knowledge in many areas that discussion is of limited value.
