Although there is one journal in the United States that is devoted exclusively to nuclear medicine, only a fraction of the investigations in this field are published there. Most of the reports on nuclear medicine are scattered throughout a wide range of both general and specialized journals devoted to many different fields.
For this reason the editor of this series, Dr. James L. Quinn, III, has undertaken the extremely difficult task of locating and evaluating the widespread contributions considered most significant. For example, the Journal of Chronic Diseases would seem an unlikely place to find an excellent review article on "Computer Applications in Nuclear Medicine" by James S. Robertson; and we are greatly indebted to Quinn for bringing this to our attention.
Such diversity in publication sources and complexity of subject matter tend to make this series very important, as well as representing an undertaking of great responsibility for the
