Professor Dacie has completed the second edition of his treatise on the hemolytic anemias with the publication of Part IV: Drug-Induced Haemolytic Anaemias, Paroxysmal Nocturnal Haemoglobinuria, Haemolytic Disease of the Newborn. It will be apparent to any reader that this has been a monumental task, a fact emphasized by the first sentence of the preface: "The present volume completes the work and in 352 pages covers the subjects dealt with in the first edition in 91 pages!" It is a task well accomplished.

This is not a book, however, for beginning student or casual hematologist. It is too comprehensive, too detailed, and too well documented with references for that purpose. But, it is a book that belongs in every medical library and on the shelves of every practicing hematologist. It is up-to-date, and the references are complete to the time of publication.

The bibliography alone justifies the existence of this
