This is a basic text which explores and explains the dynamics of chemical-induced toxicity. Chapters deal with translocation of chemicals in the biologic system, biotransformation mechanisms, factors influencing the action of chemicals on various biologic systems, the role of genetics and immunology classification of the harmful effects of chemicals, and a schema for laboratory evaluation of potential toxicity of new chemical agents. The section on drug-induced toxicity is incredibly brief; the chapter on selective toxicity is terse but pertinent. The bibliography is selective but acceptably current.
