This first number of the fifth volume of Modern Treatment maintains the tradition of excellence established by its predecessors. The first symposium on coagulation disorders deals with practical aspects of diagnosis and management of congenital disorders of coagulation. Eight contributors assist Editor Ratnoff in presenting aspects of surgical care, orthopedic management, dental care, psychiatric and social care, and genetic counseling of those afflicted with this panoply of diseases. Chapters are well-organized, current, and complete.

In the second section, R. F. Escamilla, MD, and eight co-authors discuss treatment of disorders of growth. Areas covered include dysfunction of pituitary, thyroid, adrenal cortex, testes, ovaries, and a variety of rare congenital afflictions. This section, also, is epitomized by completeness and clarity.
