Abstract

This is a concise, clearly written text, covering the vast spectrum of the burn problem from the history of treatment through care in the disaster situation. It is co-authored by two of the nation's leading authorities in this field. They have drawn extensively from their clinical and research experience at the US Army Surgical Research Unit, Brooke Army Medical Center. There is detailed discussion of all aspects of treatment ranging from the pathophysiology of each particular clinical entity, through detailed description of surgical techniques, to the current theories of derangement at the cellular level in response to injury of this nature.

Three invited authors have also contributed new sections dealing with the specific problems
