Abstract

The increase in knowledge of biological and physical phenomena has led to a need for monographs which treat minutae in exquisite detail and for general texts which provide an overview yet with sufficient detail to make it worthwhile for the specialist. There is a third type of text, the edited proceedings of a seminar or meeting, which allows the reader the privilege of enjoying a wide ranging program, without the inconvenience of physically attending the sessions. This book is a fine example.

As a timely and up-to-date report of a seminar on Laboratory Diagnosis of Diseases Caused by Toxic Agents this is excellent. It provides the reader with a view of many toxicologic problems without becoming bogged down in detail. But the reader who needs more depth and detail has best look elsewhere.
