The International Congress of Nephrology is a happy event that takes place every three years. The first Congress was held in 1960 in Evian, and occurred thereafter in Prague, Washington, and most recently in Stockholm. Three slender volumes contain the proceedings of the Fourth International Congress of Nephrology and are divided into volume 1 (Embryology, Ultrastructure, Physiology), volume 2 (Endocrinology, Metabolic Aspects), and volume 3 (Clinical Nephrology, Immunology). Within these volumes are state of the art lectures and free communications grouped by subject. The latter obviously range over the entire face of modern nephrology in its physiologic, anatomic, and clinical aspects. A mere catalogue of the subject matter would require all of the space available for this review. For the nephrologists, the proceedings are an invaluable compendium of current opinion, experimental data, and clinical results of various therapies.
The index provides a valuable survey of those topics under the most
