Advances in Nephrology stems from a series of seminars sponsored yearly by the Nephrology Service of the Necker Hospital in Paris. Traditionally, the format consists of an indepth consideration of one particular topic, seasoned by additional reports of current research or reviews on aspects of nephrology of topical interest. In the past, the invited participants were generally from France, Belgium, and Switzerland; and the presented material was published in French. This volume reflects the initiation of bilingual seminars and the participation of a number of Englishspeaking nephrologists. It is the first edition published simultaneously in English.
The volume consists of 15 articles. Approximately one third of the book is devoted to a symposium on the immunology of glomerular disease. The remainder includes detailed reports on other important aspects of nephrology by recognized authorities in their field.
