This is Sam Bellet's last book. It epitomizes all of his other efforts in behalf of teaching in cardiology—it is superb. This is not the place to eulogize an author, but Sam Bellet was a nonpariel. This gem of a text is a pithy distillate of his tome Clinical Disorders of the Heartbeat.
He carries the reader easily and swiftly through introductory chapters describing simple dysrhythmias into the most complex varieties. He uses "ladder-grams" sparingly, but its liberally annotated tracings facilitate comprehension. They are most admirably complemented by the description in the text.
Later chapters are concerned with many areas peripheral to rhythm disturbances (causes, clinical manifestations, treatment). The key virtues of this little book are clarity, brevity, and practical scholarship—all characteristic of "the Bellet touch."
