Volume 27 of Progress in Neurology and Psychiatry competently maintains the level of usefulness of each previous annual of the series in providing a compactly ordered overview of the vast current literature now available regarding each discipline (this present research involves approximately 5,000 relevant sources). Editor Spiegel courageously undertakes the important service of gathering major contributions of eminent specialists in the basic sciences and clinical aspects of each of the two named divisions of medicine. With broader intent than ever, this reporting provides notable evidence of growth of understanding of the essential importance of psychological and neurological medicine in every individual's cultural experience.

As in previous volumes, the material in this one is evenly arranged in four sections: basic sciences (67 pp), neurology (93 pp), neurosurgery (32 pp), and psychiatry (104 pp).
