Abstract

This volume is the outgrowth of a Glaxo-sponsored symposium held in Great Britain in April 1972. The participants were a distinguished group of European basic scientists and clinicians who had an abiding interest in the subject of drug allergy.

There is a foreword by R. R. A. Coombs outlining the problem. The 19 presentations that follow are divided into three parts. Each narrator presents his experiences with a particular phase of drug allergy utilizing the conventional immunological techniques. Some utilize all the available immunological techniques to detect both humoral and cellular hypersensitivity. There is little overlapping or redundancy in the presentations. Several new and as yet untried approaches are also introduced. As might be expected, no new or startling refinements on the subject are forthcoming.
